Crochet shawl
MATERIALS:
• Fingering weight cotton yarn: 5 oz/150 g in a neutral color, 1 oz/25g purple, 1 oz/25g turquoise, 1 oz/25g yellow, 1 oz/25g green, 1 oz/25g magenta
• Crochet hook, size 0 SIZE: one size fits all
SHAWL
Gauge 7 ch = 1 inch
Ch 457
Row 1-2: sc in each stitch across
Row 3: Ch 3, *Ch 3, sk 2 st of prev row, sc in next st, ch 3, sk 2 ch of prev row, dc in next st. Repeat from * until end of row.
Row 4: ch, sc in first dc of prev row, * ch 2,
[dc,ch,dc] in same st (in next sc of prev row), ch 2, sc in next dc of prev row. Repeat from * until end of row. At the end of row: sc in 3th ch of the group of ch 6 of prev row.
Row 5: Ch 3, * ch 3, sc in ch of center of next shell of prev row, ch 3, dc in next sc of prev row. Repeat from * until end of row.
Row 6: ch, sc in first dc of prev row, * ch 2,
[dc,ch,dc] in same st (in next sc of prev row), ch 2, sc in next dc of prev row. Repeat from * until end of row. At the end of the row, after the last shell made: dc in 3th ch of the group of ch 6 of prev row
Row 7: sc in center of first shell of prev row,
* ch 3, dc in next sc of prev row, ch3, sc in ch
of center of next shell of prev row. Repeat from * until end of row. At the end of row: dc in st of center of last shell of prev row.
Rows 8-70:
For all even rows repeat Row 6.
For all odd rows repeat Row 7.
Edging:
1) Make and edge in sc around the shawl over the circular area (from point A to B)
2) Count the number of stitches from point A to B, the total number of stitches must be a multiple of 19 plus 1
3) Make a second row of sc from point A to B , If the number of stitches obtained in previous step is not as required, adjust the number of stitches (increasing or decreasing) in order to get the correct number of stitches required (multiple of 19 + 1) to fit the pattern of the striped edging correctly.
With purple yarn:
Row 1: Ch 3 (in place of first dc), ** *sk one st, dc in next st* Repeat the sequence between the black asterisks 3 times, (5 dc in same st) two times, dc in next st Repeat the sequence between the black asterisks 4 times. Repeat from ** until you reach the other corner (point A or B).
Row 2: same as row 1.
Repeat 2 rows using turquoise yarn. Repeat 2 rows using yellow yarn. Repeat 2 rows using magenta yarn.
